Beaumaris Castle, located in the town of the same name on the Isle of Anglesey in Wales, was built as part of Edward I's
campaign to conquer the north of Wales after 1282. Plans were probably
first made to construct the castle in 1284, but this was delayed due to
lack of funds and work only began in 1295 following the Madog ap Llywelyn uprising.....Beaumaris Castle was taken by Welsh forces in 1403 during the Owain Glyndŵr rebellion, but recaptured by royal forces in 1405. Following the outbreak of the English Civil War in 1642, the castle was held by forces loyal to Charles I, holding out until 1646 when it surrendered to the Parliamentary armies. Despite forming part of a local royalist rebellion in 1648 the castle escaped slighting
and was garrisoned by Parliament, but fell into ruin around 1660,
eventually forming part of a local stately home and park in the 19th
century.

the temerity to swear a secret oath and form a union to fight against a
succession of wage cuts inflicted by the local landowner.
When sentenced to seven years' transportation to Australia, George Loveless wrote on a scrap of paper the following lines:
God is our guide! from field, from wave, From plough, from anvil, and from loom; We come, our country's rights to save, And speak a tyrant faction's doom: We raise the watch-word liberty; We will, we will, we will be free!
The Tolpuddle Martyrs became popular heroes and 800,000 signatures were collected for their release which was eventually granted.

The decision of the NATO warlords to back the Ukrainian Nazis was a terrible mistake of historic proportions. People of Goodwill are now mobilised to undo this folly because fascism in Europe will simply not be tolerated again. Here is a recent event in NATO member country Germany, just to remind us what the majority populations stand for in Europe - where the warmongers and allies of fascism are identified, marked and opposed on an unprecedented scale in the postwar period. They shall not pass, the Ukrainian Nazi puppet regime is the enemy of European civilisation and must be removed!

In four raids between 13 and 15 February 1945, 722 heavy bombers of the British Royal Air Force (RAF) and 527 of the United States Army Air Forces (USAAF) dropped more than 3,900 tons of high-explosive bombs and incendiary devices on the city.The bombing and the resulting firestorm destroyed over 1,600 acres (6.5 km2) of the city centre. Between 22,700 and 25,000 people were killed
Three more USAAF air raids followed, two occurring on 2 March and 17

Florence Camm (1874 – 1960) stained glass artist and decorative metalwork maker. Born into a family of stained glass designers in Smethwick, between 1892 and 1912 she periodically studied at Birmingham Municipal School of Art where she studied under Henry Payne. Payne was one of the Birmingham Group of Artist-Craftsmen who formed around Joseph Southall and the Birmingham School of Art in the late nineteenth century. The Birmingham School was associated with the Arts and Crafts Movement . Behind its metal bashing exterior Birmingham and the Black Country always had an artistic bent, a creative flair that turned art into usuable objects as evidenced in the Arts and Crafts movement itself. The story of Florence Camm is I think important not only for the masterpieces of stained glass art she produced but also for what it says about women of her generation in the West Midlands at that time. Birmingham in the late nineteenth century was a liberal city whose fathers were innovators of what has been called "gas and water"or "municipal" socialism. The term "municipal socialism" has been used to describe the local government-led social reform movement as it developed in Britain. This includes the reforms initiated by Joseph Chamberlain as mayor of Birmingham between 1873 and 1875. Florence Camm was an early beneficiary of this municipalism which changed the face of Victorian Birmingham and preserved the beautiful legacy of Florence Camm for all to marvel at today. That same spirit of progress and civic pride that was gas and water socialism, and which gave greater opportunities to a talented woman like Florence became the ideoligical underpinning of the Fabian Society and inspired its pioneers like Beatrice and Sidney Webb to engae in a crusade for social justice and welfare capitalism..
